Bucket List
Everyone has a dream of getting that one shot that will forever give you bragging rights. My dream bird is capturing a bald eagle out in the wild.
Well on March 25, 2021 I received a call from my sister-in-law , Tina, alerting me to a pair of bald eagles in a tree near the Walmart Plaza in Cranston, RI. I quickly jumped in the car for a 5 minute ride. I was shocked when I pulled into a parking spot to see that one of the eagles was still there. I took over 100 shots until the eagle flew away to a more distant row of trees.
What was really cool was that I spotted 2 bands on the eagles legs that were in perfect focus. I ended up locating Dan Varland, Executive Director of Coastal Raptors who helped me to find the organization that banded the eagle. It turned out the bald eagle was 4 years old and was banded in the nest in Massachusetts.
Not only did I realize my dream to photograph a bald eagle in the wild, but the bonus was learning more about the eagle than I would have imagined.
